Hi, I'm Mike. I build apps, and Thailand changed my life.
I spent years as a merchant seaman, and in my time off I taught myself to code. Thailand kept pulling me back, and these days our family farm in Buriram, in Isan, is a big part of my life. I'm still very much a farmer in training.
I built the Thailand Explorer app because I wanted an easier way to plan trips around the country and keep track of the places worth seeing. This site grew out of the same idea: one place for the spots I'd tell a friend about, with the details that actually help you get there.
Why this site is a bit different
Most Thailand pages send you to the same handful of places. I'd rather start where they stop, especially in Isan and the North, and tell you plainly what something costs, when it's open and whether it's worth the trip this month.
Every fact on a place page shows where it came from and when it was last updated. If we haven't checked something, we say so instead of guessing. You can read exactly how we check places.
