How we check places
Short version: every fact shows where it came from and when. If we haven't checked it, it's not on the page.
Where the information comes from
- Our own visits. Places we've been to say so, with the date we last checked them.
- Tourism Authority of Thailand open data. Opening hours and entry fees for many attractions come from TAT's open data catalog, published under Thailand's Open Data Common licence. We only use records TAT updated in 2022 or later, and we show TAT's update date next to them.
- Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. Thai names, map coordinates and photos. Every photo is credited to its photographer with its licence, and we only use licences that allow it.
- Thai Meteorological Department. Our month-by-month weather guide is based on general climate patterns. Weather varies year to year, so it's a guide, not a forecast. Last reviewed 2026-11-03.
What we never do
- Guess a fee, an opening time or how to get somewhere. Unknown means it's left off.
- Publish a new place before someone has checked it exists and is worth the trip.
- Copy other travel sites' writing.
- Pop-ups, fake urgency or "only 2 left" banners.
How the site makes money
Some links to tours, transport and hotels are affiliate links. If you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Those links are labelled. They never decide which places we include or what we say about them.
We'd also love it if you tried the free Thailand Explorer app for iPhone.
Common questions
Is Thailand Explorer free?
Yes. The site and the iOS app are free. Some links to tours and hotels are affiliate links, which is how we pay for it.
How current are the fees and opening hours?
Each fact shows its source and the date it was last updated, right under the info box on the place page. National park and historical park fees in Thailand do change, so check at the gate.
Can I suggest a place or report a mistake?
Please do. Use the app support page and tell us the place name and what changed.
